Chicago Fire & PD won't air until April 29!! Phooey.

Well fiddle.  Luckily Nana was looking at the schedule today and let me know that it wasn't listed on April 1 so I gave production a call and sure enough, it's been moved to April 29.  Oh well, better late than never. 

Seriously gearing up for St. Party's Day

Walked out to get in our car and had to giggle at this crowd already having fun across the street.

Now we're on our way to the airport and there really is not one person we see on the streets that doesn't have green on. Heard they dyed the river green this morning like we do at Riverwalk.

Glad we're out of here now since I'm guessing the noise from the streets would have been pretty bad this weekend. LOL!!

St. Party's Day

Everywhere we walked this morning had folks already partying and decked out in full St. Patrick's Day gear. It made for some fun people watching and I can tell this town is about seriously party!

Had to hit the M.A.C. make-up store for some long-time wanted special brushes....and, of course, a little make-up too. Is there such a thing as too much? ;-)

We made it into Chicago little later than expected after our original flight was cancelled. Luckily they got us on the next flight out but we had to doodle for a few hours in the airport. Glad we were at the Austin airport since there's always stuff to do and the SXSW people watching was actually fun.

Had a 6:42 am pick up this morning and luckily it's all inside shots this time around. It's not as brutally cold and it's at least going to warm up to 37 today.  :-)

Yesterday was so nice. We had planned to go to a museum and aquarium but the girls were having so much fun playing up on the pool deck in the fresh snow that they asked to stay. We got in a lot of great visit time and the girls had a blast. Honestly, it was nice to have a no-go day. :-)

Still crazy cold and it was snowing all morning. Had a 5 AM pick up this morning. She's doing great on her last day and it stopped snowing and the sun it out. :-)

5:00 AM pick up time this morning. Oof! Starting the coffee IV drip now. :-o

How on earth are we "used" to this after only a week??

For her make-up shopping today, we decided to walk since the sun was shining and it was "a nice day".  Still can't believe those words came out of both of our mouths!  As we were walking, I checked Weather Bug and it was 17 but felt like 10.  We both kept going on and on about what a beautiful day it was and how glad we were that we walked.  We did get to see some great parts of the city that went by too fast in cabs and vans.  We felt totally safe as we are in a fairly nice area and the place we were walking to was a VERY nice area (Lincoln Park for anyone familiar with Chicago).  Sylvia, the Kryolan store was right next door to a Barbour store - can't thank you enough for loaning me your Barbour jackets!  Don't think I would have survived...or I've at least survived with a more pleasant attitude about cold. LOL!!  Honestly though, thinking about it...it's so true what everyone says in that you do learn to dress for the weather.  We have gotten so much better about layering and just dealing with the extra clothing once you are in a place and need to shed layers.  Still a pain in the ass and far prefer flip-flops but am understanding better how folks survive in this weather...never understood how anyone could stand it before.

It was strange since we were actually glad that we got thrown into to "fire" right away with those brutal temps because it's made the rest of the trip so much nicer.  Glad we got in when we did this evening though since the snow is coming down pretty heavy now but for the first time since we've been here, the temp and "Feels Like" are the same since there isn't any wind which is so rare. :-)


Tomorrow is the The Field Museum and the Aquarium then an early bedtime as our pick-up time is 6:30 am on Monday.  On our next trip up, I HAVE to go to the Art Institute of Chicago for the Thorne Miniature Rooms.  Of course I love art museums no matter what but I'm dying to see these.  History, art, doll houses, interior design and period pieces all in the same room...think I might explode! :-)

FX Make-up Shopping Time!!

This was a "have to get there TODAY" sort of trip. Kryolan make-up here in Chicago. They have all sorts but also specialize in special effects make-up.  She's been lusting after some of the palettes that the make-up artists have used on her last several projects and they are very expensive. The FX artist on this set gave her the lead on these color wheels from Kryolan that are still very high quality but more reasonably priced. She was thrilled to be able to get all if the wheels for the same as just a couple of palettes in the other brand.

The gal there helping her was wonderful and showed her all sorts of tips and tricks and treated her with such respect.  Later, they got to visiting and when she told her what she was up here for, turns out that she knows the FX guy in addition to being a friend of one of the boom operators on "Chicago PD" and was going to tell him to watch for Avi and Avi asked his name and said she'd tell him hi. She always knows most of the crew far better than me since she's in the trenches with them. :-)

She gave herself a fabulous bruise as well as me. Now that we're back from an evening out and some outrageously delicious pizza, she's giving the other little girl, Aimee, some fabulous bruises also. LOL!! :-)
